Find Out Why Tara Volunteers With Project Glimmer

Hi everyone and thanks for visiting the Project Glimmer website, we are so excited you’re here!  My name is Tara and I am a sophomore in high school. I am delighted to participate in Project Glimmer through their Student Ambassador program. I came across Project Glimmer recently while volunteering with the Leukemia Lymphoma Society as a Student Visionaries of the Year program member.  I had reached out to Project Glimmer to ask for donations, and when they sent out information about their Student Ambassador program I was so glad to be able to give back to them as they had helped me and my friends on our fundraising journey.  In case you were wondering, my team won student visionaries of the year, raising over $80,000 for cancer research and we would not have been able to reach this feat without Project Glimmer.

Since joining Project Glimmer I have had the opportunity to wrap gifts through their Boxing Joy Kit volunteering opportunity. This was an amazing experience as I was able to give back to Project Glimmer who had previously helped me. Project Glimmer’s Boxing Joy program is amazing because it is a great way to give back to communities while having fun. Although I boxed mine on my own, making a party out of a Boxing Joy Kit is an amazing idea as well and such a fun way to give back.

I am excited to support this organization through their volunteering opportunities because of my personal belief that in order to get more women into male-dominated fields we need to inspire them through confidence building. I myself am breaking into male-dominated classes at my high school, as one of the few girls in AP science and math classes.  Through their mission to “inspire every girl to envision and realize an empowered future” Project Glimmer is inspiring young women from all walks of life to go after their dreams no matter what obstacles stand in their way, something that I also aspire to do.  Project Glimmer is such an amazing organization and I hope you will consider volunteering or supporting their mission. They are changing the world one girl at a time!
