Celebrate Sustainability on Earth Day!

April 2022

The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970 and was created to help bring environmental issues to the forefront in the media and people’s minds. Sustainability is important for everyone to strive for, but it is especially important for companies and organizations so they can reduce their environmental impact, gain consumer trust, and help preserve the planet for future generations. In celebration of this important day, Project Glimmer would like to highlight the three ways that we practice sustainability.

#1: Gifts + Goods

Our Social Supply Chain for Good allows us to help brands reach their philanthropic and sustainability goals by giving them the opportunity to repurpose excess inventory which Project Glimmer turns into meaningful and useful gifts. Last year, Project Glimmer repurposed and distributed over 650,000 gifts and essential goods to girls and women across the country. Project Glimmer partners with many brands to give excess products a new life. Some of this year’s top brands include:

#2: Warehouse With Prologis

Project Glimmer also works towards sustainability in our operations and selected a warehouse in one of Prologis’ warehouse parks. "Our commitment to sustainability ensures our buildings incorporate the latest technologies, materials, and techniques to mitigate negative environmental impacts and reduce costs for our customers.” Additionally, Project Glimmer implements:

  • Onsite recycling

  • Reuse shipping materials whenever possible

  • Pick-up option for local nonprofits vs shipping

#3: Aligning With Sustainably Minded Brands

Project Glimmer also partners with brands that are sustainability-minded, including Luma & Leaf, Bold Swim, and Freeman Beauty. Luma & Leaf has made sustainability in their ingredients and packaging a priority and,

“many of our plant-based ingredients are biodegradable, Ecocert certified, and cosmos certified. Most of our packaging is recyclable. However, we place an emphasis on giving empties a new life by upcycling them into mini vases, succulent pots, and even bathroom organizers.”

Bold Swim also prioritizes sustainability by using recycled materials in all of their packaging and Amni Soul Eco fabric in their products, which is biodegradable, to reduce their company’s environmental impact.

Want to help us reach our goals? You can donate to our Gifts + Goods program and share this opportunity with brands that may want to join our Social Supply Chain. You can also volunteer with Project Glimmer and shop our partners to help support our mission.

It is important to think about sustainability during Earth Day, but it is equally important throughout the year. We are excited to keep working towards greater sustainability within our organization as well as continuing to expand the reach of our Social Supply Chain for Good.
