Valerie Garcia Houts // Secretary
Valerie is a Managing Director-Wealth Management; Senior International Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch where she and her partners lead the Venture Services Group, working with Private Equity & Venture Capital Funds. She joined Merrill Lynch in 2002 from Robertson Stephens, and began her career in finance over 20 years ago at the San Francisco based firm Montgomery Securities.
Valerie received her BA in Economics from the University of California at Irvine and her MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley. While at UCI, she studied economic public policy in Washington, D.C. under then-California Congressman Christopher Cox, recent Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Valerie has been named to Barron’s Top 100 Women Advisor List in 2012 & 2013, was featured from 2008-2010 in On Wall Street’s “Top 40 Under 40” list of financial advisors, and continues to be a frequent speaker at private equity industry conferences and events. She also dedicates time outside of work to the Parish Council of St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco.
She and her husband, both Southern California natives, are enjoying raising their three daughters in San Francisco while still managing to catch some beach time in his hometown of Laguna Beach each summer.
