Susanne Somerville is a San Francisco native with a passion for supply chain. Her most recent role was Vice President, Supply Chain, North America at Genentech where she oversaw and ensured the supply of life saving medicines for US and Canada patients. In her 13 years at Genentech, she also held responsibility for managing the Clinical Supply Chain for over 80 drugs in development being used in over 800 studies worldwide, as well as Supply Chain Strategic Planning during the company's largest manufacturing expansion in history. She has played a strong role as an advocate for women at Genentech, founding the Women Officers Group and initiating focused development programs for senior women at the company. Her work has been cited in Harvard case studies, and she has been frequently asked to speak on her career learnings.
She has a BS in Chemical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara, and an MBA in Operations Research from SF State University. She serves on the Boards of Junior Achievement, Northern California, and The Bio Supply Management Alliance. She lives in Marin with her husband and two boys.
Susanne's passion for Project Glimmer stems from experience that all girls and women (no matter how successful) benefit from encouragement and support, and that a little effort can make a huge difference in girls' belief in themselves.
