Joanna Drake Earl

Joanna Drake Earl is an Advisor and Board member to a broad range of companies. She is focused on ventures that bridge the gap between media and technology, have a social mission with potential for significant impact, and are led by passionate and experienced founders.

Until December 2012, Joanna served as the Chief Operating Officer for DeNA West. She oversaw operations outside of Asia for this rapidly scaling $3B Japanese mobile entertainment company.

Previously, Joanna served as Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Current TV, the fastest growing cable and satellite network in the history of the industry, where she was the first executive to join co-Founders Al Gore and Joel Hyatt.

During web 1.0, Joanna held executive positions at leading ventures at the intersection of technology and media, including MOXI (now Digeo) and ReacTV. Prior, she was a Senior Associate in Booz Allen & Hamilton’s media and entertainment and technology consulting practices.

Joanna holds a Masters degree focused on Japanese business from Stanford University, and a BA in Political Economy from University of California at Berkeley. She lives in San Francisco with her identical twin daughters and spends lots of time in Sonoma.
